After an exciting Saturday, exploring Singapore's near forgotten railway heritage at Tanjong Pagar, Chinese mythology at Haw Par Villa and microcosm of South India right in the middle of Singapore - Little India, today is a day light on the schedule...
Make no mistake, it was equally exciting as I was to visit the Singapore Botanic Gardens, a place I love to call Singapore's Eden! It was my second trip here, after that incredible morning that I spent at the Gardens in August last year...
And then there was a second reason for my excitement - I was showing Neeti around the Botanic Gardens!
Modern sculptures greet us as we enter the Gardens...
This is probably the best place to sit the whole day, read a book, listen to some good instrumental numbers and watch life as it goes past - living life in the slow lane... Everyone needs this once in a while...
A pit-stop...
I could only think of Robert Frost here - "The woods are lovely, dark and deep,. But I have promises to keep,. And miles to go before I sleep,. And miles to go before I sleep..."
My fascination for pathways only grows when I see places like this...
With a path like this, the journey has to be interesting...
Stop! Make way for the monitor lizard...
This is such a pleasing sight!
Turtle in the lake...
This reminded me of Pamplemousses, Mauritius...
The lotus bloomed in India... and in Singapore too!
Being a Sunday, families were out in the open, despite the high degree of humidity...
As we head to the National Orchid Garden, we passed by a clock telling us the time in Vancouver!
Finally at the National Orchid Garden...
I had been dying to show Neeti this treasure...
Old memories come alive!
Indeed this more than beautiful...
Do we have names for these colours and shades?
And there the flaming orchid stands out...
So delicate and pretty...
What a regal colour...
And we came to the end of this tour of the National Orchid Garden, which is indeed a true feast for travel weary souls like me...
