After two days in Lucerne, the time finally came to say goodbye to this interesting city as we moved on to our next destination, the very cosmopolitan city of Geneva located in the French speaking part of south western Switzerland.
We woke up to a bright morning in Lucerne and we scrambled to get ready for the journey to Geneva and the action-packed day ahead...
And we need a good amount of energy...
...which came from an appetizing breakfast!
We then walked down to the station, the Luzern Bahnhof to catch our train to Geneva. Thanks to our 8-day Swiss Travel Pass, we had unlimited access to the rail, bus and boat network across the country...
With nearly two hours to kill, we slept a bit, but for the larger part of time, we played multiple games of Uno!
The train ride took us along the shores of Lake Geneva, past the city of Lausanne, which is home to the International Olympic Committee...
And finally our train rolled into Genève-Cornavin, Switzerland's biggest railway station...
Genève-Cornavin is a major railway hub connecting France to Switzerland...
After a brief taxi ride from Genève-Cornavin we reached our hotel at Rue de Zurich. We were an hour prior to the check in time, but rules here are RULES - bold, underlined and italicized, with little room for any kind of flexibility. (I wonder why Europeans, in general, and the Swiss in particular are like this?)
And as we wait to check in to our hotel, we grabbed a sandwich from a cafe nearby...
