Officially, A Cave Man, Today!

After an interesting day around the various towns and villages of Cappadocia region, we drove down to the tiny town of Ürgüp and checked into our hotel for the night.
This was a particularly interesting as it is a cave hotel - a hotel located inside a cave. Originally a 18th century cave chapel, it was abandoned it 1924 after the Greece-Turkey population exchange and then when tourism picked up in these parts, it was converted into a cave hotel.

Located in a narrow bylane of Ürgüp, it felt as though we were stepping back in time, into the Byzantine era...

The television in the cave-room reminded us that we were in 2015 and not a thousand years back...

Despite the heat outside, the cave-rooms were surprisingly very cool, in fact close to being a bit chilly...

It is quite an experience to stay here...

The ceiling...

Rustic charms...

The courtyard...

A time to relax...

As dusk sets in, it gets quite cool!

The dining area used to be the congregation hall of the chapel!

Turkish lamps adorn the lobby...

A walk through Ürgüp town...

Ürgüp town square...

A traditional Turkish hamam or bathhouse in centre of Ürgüp...

And we head back to our hotel to spend the night, after which, I shall officially become a cave-man!
