After having a date with Napoleon Bonaparte at Les Invalides, we headed out to explore a bit more of Paris.
On the Avenue de Breteuil...
On the Big Bus...
Hotel Du Louvre...
Heading to the Louvre...
The glass pyramid at the Louvre...
Whether associated with the devil or not, the Pyramide du Louvre is indeed quite a sight...
The Arc de Triomphe du Carrousel which lies on one end of the Axe Historique...
This arch - one of the three in Paris is located in the Place du Carrousel, right in front of the Louvre. It was built between 1806 and 1808 to commemorate Napoleon's military victories of the previous years. The top of the arch has a sculpture of peace riding in a triumphal chariot...
The Seine...
A quay named after the legendary French president of the 1980s, Francois Mitterrand...
Our bus...
Headed to Pont Neuf...
There is nothing better than a relaxed conversation...
La Samaritaine, a large department store...
The towers of Notre-Dame...
There are so many mysteries to be explored at Notre-Dame...
And it poured, and poured...
Back at the Eiffel...
École Militaire and the Tour Montparnasse behind it...
And the Champs de Mars lie right ahead of us. The park is named after the Campus Martius (or the Mars Field) in Rome, as a tribute to the Roman God of war, Mars...
These lawns here were once used as drilling and marching grounds by the French military...
And then as we turned into the Champs Elysees, it started pouring again. And we were a trifle disappointed as we wanted to explore this boulevard, but couldn't in the rain. But we tried our best to enjoy the sights of this avenue that the French proudly call "la plus belle avenue du monde" or the world's most beautiful avenue...
And we hummed Aux Champs Elysees, there couldn't be a more fitting ode to this avenue...
I have walked along the avenue
The heart opened for the unknown
I wished to say: good morning
No matter whom
No matter who you were
I told you no matter what
It was enough talking to you
For taming you.
At the Champs- Élysées
At the Champs- Élysées
In the sun, under the rain
At noon or at midnight
There is everything you want
At the Champs- Élysées
You told me: „I have a date
In abasement with the madmen
Who spend with the guitar in the hand
From evening to morning.”
So, i have accompanied you
We sang, we danced
And we weren’t even thinking
Of kissing.
At the Champs- Élysées
At the Champs- Élysées
In the sun, under the rain
At noon or at midnight
There is everything you want
At the Champs- Élysées
Yesterday evening, two strangers
And this morning, on the avenue
Two lovers, all dazed
From the long night
And from the Étoile to Concorde
An orchestra with thousand strings
All the birds of the point of the day
Sing the love.
At the Champs- Élysées
At the Champs- Élysées
In the sun, under the rain
At noon or at midnight
There is everything you want
At the Champs- Élysées
