With Taipei 101 ticked off on our list of things to do in Taipei, we headed to explore the city's offbeat charms - observing how the city dwellers - the Taipeinese live.

We heard Typhoon Dujuan is to make landfall in the next 48 hours. And the warning signs were all there. But that had no effect on the Taipeinese - they were all out enjoying the weather, visiting markets and restaurants as though it was all normal. That reminded me of my home, Mumbai, during the Monsoons (and really made me homesick!)...
They respect traffic signals here, but they stop after the Stop line. Perhaps that's the Asian way! But in a sense I found the average Taiwanese a lot more sophisticated and cultured than the Mainlanders. And this is notwithstanding a violation of traffic rules...
