A few weeks back, we had freaked out on xiaolongbaos at Din Tai Fung in Taipei. We went nuts over the humble dumplings that we ended up visiting Taipei 101 twice to taste heaven.
And we were pleased to learn that Seoul too has a few branches of Din Tai Fung. Today, after our DMZ trip, we decided to walk down to Myeongdong from Euljiro 3(sam)-ga to have a decent meal of xiaolongbaos!
The restaurant wasn't busy at all, unlike in Taipei. I had actually expected that since it is a Saturday, Din Tai Fung will be teeming with hungry hordes...
They looked like lovebirds on date!
The service here was quite relaxed and I dare say, a bit indifferent! And both Neeti and I noticed the difference and instantly remembered Beatriz who served us in Taipei...
Scanning the menu...
Though I was clear what I wanted, I scanned the menu for side orders...
Our table is laid out...
Spinach as the side order...
Here come the xiaolongbaos. Definitely they look emaciated and not as juicy and flavourful like those in Taipei. But then, they are the xiaolongbaos...
Though not too bad, Din Tai Fung at Myeongdong is definitely passable. It would be worth the wait to head back to Taipei again for another visit to Din Tai Fung...
