Exploring Babeldaob...

The amazing aerial tour of Palau followed by a well deserved rest gave us the energy to get back on the road again.
With a rented car, a Mazda Demio on our disposal we headed out to explore the south eastern part of Babeldaob. Palau like many non-Commonwealth countries drives on the right side of the road, but the oddest bit - the cars here are mostly right-hand drives.
That seemed a bit off. But then a bit of exploring gave the answers - Palau imports cheap, used cars from Japan and Japan drives on the left of the road, and therefore has right-hand drives. That puts Palau in an odd situation - they drive right-hand drive cars on the right side of roads...

It was a wonderful bright afternoon when we set out on our drive...

And it took us a while to get used to driving the right-hand drive Mazda Demio on the right side of the road...

The roads are so empty here...

Passing by the United States Embassy...

The Stars and Stripes...
The Embassy is a lot like a fortress. Naturally, these islands will be of strategic importance to the United States going forward and that justifies their formidable presence here...

Babeldaob seems to be my kind of place...

Probably someday, when I retire...

What a place...

My kind of idyllic getaway...

A modern take on a traditional Palauan baai...
