Returning back from the mysterious stone monoliths of Badrulchau, we reveled in the lovely sights of the island...
And then it dawned on us - yesterday was Christmas...
And today the islanders are having a relaxing day at home, with not a soul to be seen around...
Indeed, life over here moves at its own pace...
Life here is relaxed, it is easy and above it all, it is close to nature - the islanders are so close to the elements - that is what we as city-dwellers have forgotten completely...
Life here appears to be idyllic...
But there are choices, there are trade-offs...
In remote places like Palau, access is an issue, there are limited career opportunities, limited healthcare and recreational facilities...
And the internet sucks...
At the end of the day, it is a choice one has to make...
What would you like to wake up to every morning - a vast green-blue landscape, or would you want to peer into the condo-block next door...
There is is a price to be paid for each choice you make...
(We see the first car in the last 90 minutes, that's how remote these parts get!)
And trust me, as humans, we can't get it all...
But for now, we will just enjoy oneness with Nature...
At least for a few hours more...
