A short drive from Rizal Park brought me to the heart of the Spanish presence in Philippines - the Intramuros.
Intramuros, which literally means "within the walls" is the oldest district and historic core of Manila - districts outside this area were called the Extramuros. It was from this 0.67 square-kilometre walled city, the Spanish ruled the Philippines.
