Back To Gyeongju, At Cheomseongdae...

And we are back in Gyeongju, for a short weekend trip - our second trip here after our first visit here in March earlier this year...

The early morning KTX train from Gwangmyeong Station brought us into Singyeongju Station at around 10.30 AM after which we headed straight into the ancient capital's prime archaeological site - the Cheomseongdae...

The highlight of the archaeological site is the oldest surviving astronomical observatory in Asia...

The observatory was constructed in the 7th century during the reign of the Silla Dynasty, whose capital was Seorabeol, or present-day Gyeongju...

The site also features a few burial mounds similar to those we had seen on our previous trip here...

It is a pleasant and overcast day here today...

And we enjoyed roaming around

Lovely woods around the Cheomseongdae...

And we could hear the winds whistling through the trees...

We could spend hours over here...

And now we head out for lunch...
